We’re opting out of the “busy is better” mindset and choosing a cozier kind of rebellion instead.
At The Sister Project, we’re raising a little hell by slowing down, caring less, and doing a whole lot more of nothing. Because honestly? There is nothing more radical than rest. Nothing more rebellious than boundaries. And nothing more powerful than saying no.
Recently, we had the chance to talk about this philosophy on Matt in the Morning, where we shared four simple letters that define our cozy rebellion: F.A.L.L. A reminder to experience this season—and really, any season—in a way that feels like an exhale, not a pressure cooker waiting to explode.
Think: more rest, less rushing. More simple pleasures, less “should.”
A Different Way to Move Through the Season
Every year, we’re met with endless invitations to do more and be more. That part isn’t new. What can be new is how we respond.
What if we approached this season with cozy empowerment instead of obligation?
What if we stopped trying to keep up and instead came home to ourselves?
That’s where F.A.L.L. comes in—a cozy-season framework for living with intention, setting boundaries, and finding joy in the pause.
F is for Forget the Pressure
In a world that tells us to host more, spend more, and hustle harder, we offer a gentler alternative: slow down, spend less, and do less.
Forget the pressure to be everything for everyone. You already do enough—and you are enough. As Stuart Smalley famously said, “Gosh darnit, people like you.” Consider this your permission slip to stop chasing the Joneses and start enjoying your own company.
A is for Ask: “Do I Even Want This?”
Before saying yes, pause and check in. Ask yourself, Do I even want this?
If your shoulders tense, your throat tightens, or the answer isn’t a full-body yes—that’s your answer. Your body is wise. This season, let it lead.
L is for Learn to Say No
Saying no to chaos is saying yes to cozy.
Sometimes raising hell sounds like, “Thanks, but no thanks.” Protecting your peace creates space for what truly matters—and the more you practice it, the easier it becomes.
L is for Linger Where It Feels Good
The power of pausing is that it turns minutes into moments.
Stay longer in the spaces that nourish you. Run—lovingly and unapologetically—from what drains you. Life moves fast enough. Give yourself permission to linger where it feels just right.
The Courage to Slow Down
Here’s the truth: slowing down takes courage.
It’s easy to fill every open space on the calendar. It’s much harder to leave room for nothing—to protect blank days and open evenings. But that’s where the magic lives.
So whether it’s fall, winter, spring, or summer, may you forget the pressure, ask what you truly want, say no with confidence, and linger exactly where life feels good.
That’s what cozy rebellion looks like. 🍂
Stay cozy,
Michelle
