NEW EPISODE DROPS EVERY THURSDAY

Alliance Bakery for Paczkis

This year we enjoyed our paczkis from Alliance Bakery on Grand Ave. My favorite was hands down the Strawberry & Cream Cheese, followed by Mango & Tajín, with Dubai Pistachio Chocolate in third. You can order yours HERE.

In all honesty, I still prefer the more traditional ones from Weber’s Bakery (order HERE), but we tried something new this year and have zero regrets. That said, back to Weber’s we go next year.

Resistance Lagree Pilates

I stumbled upon Lagree Pilates back in December and let’s just say it was love at first class. Ever since I had Luna (almost 3.5 years ago), I’ve been on the hunt for something to really push me physically. I love my yoga, but I needed more. Pilates has been my answer.

Teaching mat Pilates at Half Moon Yoga (South Loop — come visit!) and taking classes at Resistance Lagree Pilates in Wicker Park have both been giving me so much life. I’ve been going twice a month for the past two months at Resistance and I’m already seeing and feeling the benefits. Obsessed.

We Can Do Hard Things: The Epstein Files Explained

If you’re anything like me and have found yourself wondering, HOW IN THE WORLD DID WE GET HERE? — this episode will help break it down. I continue to be absolutely horrified by the handling of this sex-trafficking ring.

There’s nothing cozy about this topic, but it’s hard to feel cozy when abuses of power against women and girls go unpunished. This is not the world I want to raise my daughter in, so I will continue to talk about it and support the survivors from afar.

Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart / Netflix

I remember Elizabeth’s kidnapping when it happened, so I felt like I needed to hear her story directly from her. It’s heartbreaking on so many levels, but an important watch. What a strong and courageous woman.

Espresso Yourself Pilates Grip Socks

Now that I’m doing Pilates all the time, grip socks are officially required. Anthony recently gifted me these cuties and they’re just so good. Functional and adorable. Shop more cuties, HERE.

Return to Oz

Calling all millennials who remember this completely messed-up film. Why were the movies we watched growing up so freaking weird? And this one, Return to Oz, is no exception. The Wheelers. The queen with the collection of heads. The terrifying rock faces at the end. What were these people on?

Either way, I watched this while sick with norovirus, and if you haven’t seen it since 1989, it might be time for a revisit. Enjoy?

Komoda, A Chicago Boutique

I’m excited to share a boutique I’ve been frequenting for cards, gifts, and other treasures. It’s a small, woman-owned business filled with something for everyone. Located right on Chicago Ave in West Town, this shop deserves a spot on your list of places to support.

The Chicago Podcast w/ Brendan Greeley featuring Anthony Ciancio

Our friend and fellow podcast host, Brendan Greeley of The Chicago Podcast, recently sat down with Anthony to chat bocce ball, Elmwood Park, and his short documentary, How We Roll. There’s something extra cozy about two guys hanging out in an old-school Chicago apartment talking about creating, following your dreams, and balls. Bocce balls, that is.

Tune in HERE, give Brendan a follow, and if you’re interested in watching Anthony’s film, you can stream it here.

Stay cozy,

Lauren
